In the last couple weeks, Ivey has really "taken off". She now walks not just for fun, but as her chosen method of transportation for short distances. She loves to practice walking. She can climb on the couch, which is one of her favorite things to do, especially if Daddy is working from home and concentrating on something very important as he sits there. She can do patty cake and her favorite part is to "throw it in the pan". Her brothers are totally cracked up as she bypasses all the work of baking and patting just to get to the best part at the end. Speaking of Asa and Addison, the three of them love to chase each other around the house. Yesterday morning I heard Addison yell from the other room, "I'm on Ivey's team!" I don't know what they were playing, but both boys had to be on Ivey's team, so it was a bit of a one sided game.
Ivey has learned to sign "more" and she decided that the traditional sign for "all done" is a bit drab, so she jazzed it up a notch with her own version... where she throws her hands up and opens and closes them over and over. It took me a while to get what she was doing. I missed the memo. She has started weaning, and is now down to only nursing in the morning and at night. I can tell the morning session is about to get cut... she has better things to do. But, the night time one is still pretty darn important. It's about now that I wish she had liked that pacifier.
Tonight, as we sat at the dinner table, Addison said he doesn't really remember not having three kids. I'm sure by this time next year they won't know what things would have been like without four.
Happy birthday to my beautiful, funny, spunky, very loved blue-eyed baby girl.
