 As Olive progresses into adding 10, double digit addition, place value, etc on Dreambox, my independent nerd-baby does NOT want help. (In her words, they said to do it in MY head, momma, not YOUR head.) So, I decided to sit on the floor and give her a quick lesson on how to use the base 10 set Connie gifted us with. Now, she has a container of "tools", as she calls them, that she uses on her own when she gets stuck.
