Congratulations to Ivey, the very big girl who pee pee'd in the potty not once today, but twice! I have told her for months that I would give her an M&M if she ever wanted to put pee pee in the potty (because I refuse to slave away for hours and weeks and months at potty training.. and I know that none of my kids will be 5 years old and still in diapers whether I fret about it or not... and I really don't feel like pulling the car over on the side of the road so I can hold a little girl's naked booty out of the side of the van any sooner than I have to. Judge away!).
Well, out of the blue today she decided to let me know that she needed to go. After a generous reward of not one M&M but 5 mini ones, she pretty much ran back and forth from the living room to the bathroom for the rest of the afternoon. In typical fashion for my Ms. Independent, she wouldn't let me help, asked for a stool, refused to wear a diaper, and proceeded to tell me to "Wait just a second!" as she waved a long skinny index finger in the air. Off she ran to the bathroom, where she pulled the pocket door closed behind her. Although she repeated this ritual 200 times, with no success but a whole lot of practice getting on that potty "by self". She didn't have an accident until she was engrossed in the 9 millionth showing of Ice Age: The Meltdown, where she proceeded to pee right in the chair without noticing. Sticking to my no-stress non-potty training guns, I put a diaper back on her until later on, when she played her little potty game for a couple more hours. She wasn't successful again until bath time, and we met that with equal exuberance.
She's well on her way!
