During preschool today, I was able to fly through the grocery store at an amazing speed. It's amazing to me that before mommyhood, that speed was "normal"!
Now, some grocery store shopping experiences consist mainly of me walking down the isles and apologizing to everyone that walks by. The other day, the boys walked through the magical automatic doors at Publix and decided, mutually, that the only way they could walk was backwards. A trip that shouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes took close to an hour and forty five. Backwards down the bread isle, backwards through produce, backwards in the checkout line. They bumped, they made buggies swerve, they caused plenty of smiles. I hated to stop them... I mean, they weren't screaming or fighting or begging for any treats that were specifically placed to entice them. So, I just walked behind them and apologized to pretty much everyone that they threw off their track... and smiled.
I have to add that I have been completely blessed with kids that have very rarely pitched fits in the store. I have been shopping with them right out of the gate, and the dreaded tantrum has only happened maybe twice- seriously. What good boys I have!

World of Wonders
Today we spent the afternoon at the World of Wonders Park in Athens. We had a picnic lunch and played for hours.
This was our first trip here, although I have been wanting to take them for over a year now. They loved it! I know we will be spending lots more time here in the future...

At The Car Wash

Today was a beautiful day!
The boys and I washed the car,
which may have only done
by hand once since they were born...

Scrap Wood = Cool Toy

Jeff took the leftover scrap from the upstairs wall paneling and built a massive set of Lincoln Logs for the boys. They are entranced at the moment!

And the quote of the day is from Addison...
"I don't think I like beef scrotum-off"
Night Out
Jeff and I came back late tonight from seeing Spamalot at the Fox. The sitter, Will, was asleep on the couch... so I decided to snag his shoe and try to capture the enormous size of this thing on camera. It did NOT do it justice. The size? 17 1/2.

Wii

The boys love the wii... all three of them. What is amazing is that my three year olds can bowl a 140. The truly crazy thing is that neither of them have ever seen the inside of a bowling alley... so they don't even really know that there is an actual game called bowling- where you actually pick up an actual ball. Oh, I can't wait for the day they realize that one!

Happy Valentine's Day!

For Valentine's Day, I helped the boys make and decorate cupcakes. Icing and sprinkles and chocolate, oh my!

Construction Costs
When you are renovating a home where you reside, there are some prices to pay...
Like nightly tracks of sawdust throughout the house. It has taken over two years, but I am finally at the point where I can let it sit for a few days... I mean, it's not like it won't be there again tomorrow!

Panhandling Apis mellifera Linnaeus
Ever since we went to Disney World in March of last year, the boys have to tell us a "secret" every night during bedtime. It is a ritual that each boy give us both big hugs, little hugs, big kisses, and little kisses... mainly just to stretch the bedtime routine out to the limits. Up until recently, each boy had to tell us a "secret" about Disney World... "We went in the Haunted House, and a ghost rose in the car with us" or "We rode the Winnie the Pooh ride, and we got stuck in the mud" (the ride actually broke down for about 5 minutes at the spot that the characters in the 100 acre woods were in a rainstorm). Addison had the same exact secret for about 7 months straight. "I rode the airplane ride, and it went fast, and the lights turned off, and the white things had to stop it, and the people had to get off". Word for word, he said this same conglomeration of thought over and over, night after night. Sometimes he would say it so fast that none of it was understandable at all. In the past month or so, Asa has dropped the secret-telling all together. Jeff has been able to get Addison to ditch his memorized banter for some creativity. For some reason, each night, it is about bees.
There was a bee, and it wanted to make honey, so it went and asked people for money... and then it could make honey.
Great. A panhandling bee. I tried to argue that maybe the bee was selling the honey for money, but no. The bee was just asking around for money so that he could finance his own greedy honey-making efforts. Fabulous.

Power Wheelin'

The boys are thoroughly enjoying their belated Christmas present from Grandpa! So far, we haven't hit any trees or fences... so far...

My Little Clowns
Asa and Addison went to their first circus tonight! The soaked up all that they possibly could. Their favorites were the motorcycles in the giant ball (our favorite, as well), the acrobats, and the clowns' food fight! Addison was a little concerned over the tigers... which was probably due to Daddy's insistance that sometimes tigers get loose at the circus... I guess you have to learn early on that guys are mostly full of crap!

Slightly Morbid Safety Songs
So, Addison likes to make up songs. Please check out today's masterpiece.
The kids and are sitting in town, waiting for a train to go by so that we can continue on the path home. As we wait, Addison makes up a song to the tune of Frere-a-jaqua...
There's a car, there's a car
Stopped on the track
Stopped on the track
The train is coming
The train is coming
And smashed it into pieces
Smashed it into pieces
I don't know whether to be concerned, or if I should start recording a sick little series of safety songs.
