Backward

During preschool today, I was able to fly through the grocery store at an amazing speed. It's amazing to me that before mommyhood, that speed was "normal"!

Now, some grocery store shopping experiences consist mainly of me walking down the isles and apologizing to everyone that walks by. The other day, the boys walked through the magical automatic doors at Publix and decided, mutually, that the only way they could walk was backwards. A trip that shouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes took close to an hour and forty five. Backwards down the bread isle, backwards through produce, backwards in the checkout line. They bumped, they made buggies swerve, they caused plenty of smiles. I hated to stop them... I mean, they weren't screaming or fighting or begging for any treats that were specifically placed to entice them. So, I just walked behind them and apologized to pretty much everyone that they threw off their track... and smiled.

I have to add that I have been completely blessed with kids that have very rarely pitched fits in the store. I have been shopping with them right out of the gate, and the dreaded tantrum has only happened maybe twice- seriously. What good boys I have!
