I woke up bright and early this morning. My car was already packed to the brim with pillows, sleeping bags, fishing poles, tackle boxes, clothes, and towels. I drove two very excited boys to the church, where they climbed on a bus with Anna and headed off to camp. Honestly, I was more excited that they were, only because they had no idea what was in store for them. My two happy little independent boys are going to have the time of their lives fishing, swimming, singing, and playing. We pick them up on Saturday and I can't wait to hear about the time they had!
They have only been gone for a few hours and I am realizing something already. Those boys are a huge help to me! First, I had to do their farm chores. Chicken feeding, letting chicks and chickens out of their coops, watering the animals, feeding the cats... they really are a huge help. Next, I had to milk the goats without boys here to entertain the girls! I put Olive in a stroller, strapped her in, and let her watch Ivey feed baby chicks while they watched me milk and feed our does. We then headed out for errands and lunch... at while point I realized that it was impossible for me to hold Ivey's hand, push a stroller, hold a bag, and hold a to-go-cup of tea. How do I do this (I wondered to myself as I over squeezed the top of the cup I was carefully holding, causing a volcano of tea to hit the floor in the doorway of Moe's)? Ahh. I am usually not pushing the stroller, or carrying the tea. Man, God knew what he was doing when he put that 5 1/2 year gap between my boys and my girls! I'll have to remember to give Asa and Addison extra "thank you"s when they get home!
