House Progress...

Hardware is on the door... and it couldn't be more perfect!
Jeff has had these doors built for a long time, and it was finally time to try to hang the front one!  They are insanely heavy... I mean... imagine a heavy door, and then stack three of them together.  The coke-bottle green glass in these doors is over an inch thick!  The hinges came out of some old bank in New York.  This door is intense!

Slowly but surely... master bath walls are going up!

The Right Door For the Job

Porch Progress...

Yet again, the right piece just showed up on our doorstep.  We have old, beautiful doors (or handmade old-looking doors) for the downstairs, but we struggled on what to use for one specific doorway.  Then, this one walked up and applied for the job!  It's exactly what I was hoping for... and I can't wait to see this welcoming me every single day!

Windows and Closets

The Eastlake stained glass windows we've had stored for years are now IN!

Closet in the upstairs bedroom.  Taking the time to put the knotty boards in the backs of the closets  and saving the clean stuff for other areas takes time but pays off!

Hinges and Such...

Even the hinges, knobs, and locks take work in this house!  We have been enormously blessed with some pieces of history that deserve to be put back up on display.  As Jeff always says, "We are building a brand new 100+ year old house."  Between these beautiful salvaged gifts and the pieces and oddities that Jeff and I have been buying and saving over the last 20 years, this house will definitely have a few stories to tell.

Christmas Chandelier

Months ago, I was out trying to look for lights for the house and I fell in love with a chandelier that I knew wasn’t meant to be.  I looked around to see if I could find it used or “damaged”, but finally gave up and made do with other ideas that were nice, pretty possibilities... we don’t always get what we want!  Well, Jeff surprised me this morning with the one that I loved so much!  I can’t believe I’ll be in this house by next Christmas... and this will be hanging over my dining room table.

Another Delivery : Wall Boards

Clean space is about to be filling back up with more piles.  This time, instead of 3000+ sq. ft. of floor boards, it will be full of 6000 sq ft of 3/4"  wall boards.  Oh, and there's no crew to unload it all... other than US!  I'm ready for days like this to be over with.

Random House Pics

Flooring is IN and it feels so good to have a clean space with no piles of wood for a while!

Floors. So many floors.

More floors are going in.  I mostly cut for Jeff and Randy on the downstairs boards, and the kids and I plus Christopher Rook worked on the upstairs while Jeff built porches.
