Wall Boards

Asa continued to drive up and down the road carrying dirt all day.... lucky dog!
Future HVAC unit

I finally found a job on the house site that I am actually good at! I'm not a builder or an engineer. I don't feel comfortable with a lot of the jobs that I'm given out here on the work site. But, I do like to be the one in charge of picking out and cutting the lumber for the floors and walls. I basically hand picked each floor board, cut it, and chose what floor it should be on, what room it should be in, and which side should be seen as a floor and which should be seen as a ceiling.

Well, I took running the chop saw to a new level last week... I took measurements and cut for a ton of different areas simultaneously... which let me use every bit of each board. Better use of time AND no board waste! I had letters on the walls with corresponding letters on the boards. Different areas require different board quality... I kept two wall “crews” running plus precut for several places.
Plus, I know the right board quality went to the right wall!  By George, I think we just may get all these walls up after all!

House Progress...

So, we found a whole lot of used window panes that someone had in their basement.  He had a lot to choose from, and we were able to piece together a way to use them on the side porch to create a sunroom!  Jeff rigged some of them up to raise and open on wooden sliders... and the large ones are stationary.  It's hodge-podged perfection!  I think this is going to be such an amazing space, and I can't WAIT to chill out and take a deep breath out here one day!

The girls set to work staining the porch walls!

Jeff took the time to cut each board around the brace in the half bath.  I think this bathroom is going to be adorable!

Asa got the best job this past weekend.  Our neighbor had extra dirt... which we happened to need.  So, Asa spent the entire day listening to music and driving up and down our road scooping dirt and dumping it at the house.

House Progress...

Hardware is on the door... and it couldn't be more perfect!
Jeff has had these doors built for a long time, and it was finally time to try to hang the front one!  They are insanely heavy... I mean... imagine a heavy door, and then stack three of them together.  The coke-bottle green glass in these doors is over an inch thick!  The hinges came out of some old bank in New York.  This door is intense!

Slowly but surely... master bath walls are going up!

The Right Door For the Job

Porch Progress...

Yet again, the right piece just showed up on our doorstep.  We have old, beautiful doors (or handmade old-looking doors) for the downstairs, but we struggled on what to use for one specific doorway.  Then, this one walked up and applied for the job!  It's exactly what I was hoping for... and I can't wait to see this welcoming me every single day!

Windows and Closets

The Eastlake stained glass windows we've had stored for years are now IN!

Closet in the upstairs bedroom.  Taking the time to put the knotty boards in the backs of the closets  and saving the clean stuff for other areas takes time but pays off!
