The season just ended. This was most likely the last time my girls will be on the hockey rink together because, as Olive put it, "Hockey is way harder than I thought... and the helmet hurts my head.... and I get blisters." Even though it may not have been her cup of tea, Olive stuck it out with little complaining and zero whining. Even when she was explaining to me the reasons why it is hard, she never asked not to play, or acted like she didn't want to suit up. She knew she was in it for the full season, and I am very proud of her for the way she handled herself! Ivey, on the other hand, is in this sport for life. She absolutely LOVES being out there (so much so that I had to get onto her for not getting off the rink when Coach asked her to, and saying, "I don't want to come off yet!"). Her skating has improved, she is very intentional with her movement, and I can't wait to see what next season brings! (Hopefully, it will bring a slightly less aggressive player, as I have had to talk to her more than once about HITTING people that knock her down, or slashing with her stick! The girl has a TEMPER!) At the end, they both earned their 1st place trophy, skated around that rink with the Shamrocks flag, and smiled ear to ear!
