Today was Ivey's 3 year old preschool orientation... and I got to take her, myself! A few super nice parents and a well placed substitute teacher, and I was able to take my big girl to meet her new teacher. She was so excited that she refused to let me stop to pick up breakfast! I finally talked her into it. As I sat in the parking lot, finishing my biscuit, she said, in her biggest big girl voice, "I am so excited to meet my teacher. This is going to be so great!" That girl of mine is awesome with communication and social ability. It's this social trait that gives her the know-how to, instead of asking for a piece of cake, just stand next to the person eating it and say something like, "You are so pretty." Yes, she does this. Yes, it works. People fall for this stuff all the time... just not me!
Orientation couldn't have gone any better. Ivey loved her class, loved the cubbies, loved her teacher, and loved the kids. She even said goodbye to her teacher, by name and unprompted... and gave her a HUG! Oh my, this kid loves school!
Tuesday is Olive's orientation. She tends to be more on the shy side in those type situations, but Carris is in her class this year! So... I am hoping that she will open up and blossom. Plus, she has the same teachers that Ivey did her first year, so I know she is in awesome hands!
